I know that the Law Enforcement will not put one of their own behind bars, and they will cover it up, there should be a civilian or two that sits on the board to hear the alligations on a police officer, we do know that the Law Enforcement watch out for every one, even in a crime scene, because they don’t want their names brought up into the investigation, and they take care of their own letting collegues do all the investigations, I truly believe that there are a lot of criminal cases into which have been swept under the rug so to say. The or any type of Law Enforcement that will take care of that certain officers, it is a shame that Law Enforcement Officers don’t up hold the law they do that themselves, they rape women, extort money, murder those citizens who talk about what they know about a investigation that is on going. they put the fear in citizens and that is why no one will say much because its the Police and all they do is not wrong, sorry but that would be the first place I would look, if there is enough to speak up then will something be done, no wonder why cops from all around the world is getting shot and killed, the citizens are taking on a attitude to get these so called dirty cops out of the office, some of these officials almost all are voted into the office ( sheriff, magistrates, circuit judges you vote those in there and they can be voted out of their office as well. You let a citizen shoot and kill an officer they take the suspect and beat the mortal hell out of them just so they kept their mouth shut, and the officer can say that the person was resisting arrest, then nothing no more is said, come hell and high water I would not let any one hurt or even killed by that hands of a police officer

  I have an answer to your question about civilians, on the board for law enforcement review boards.
  For the most part review boards do have civilians on those boards.
  I’m not sure but at one time there were 2-3 civilians to every police officer on the board.
  That was done in hopes of keeping a conflict of interest to a minimum.
  
  In reality no police department should be allowed to investigate their own. They should always call in an outside agency.
  Does this always happen? No, far too often police departments investigate their own.

I have e-mailed before. I live in Fort Pierce, Florida. My name is Maria Sannasardo Gelbman . I am 65 years old and tired of being AFRAID or WORSE. My husband Robert Gelbman is the father of Deputy Inspector of the Mounted Division of the New York City Police Department, Barry Gelbman. His other son is an out on disability 43 year old NYC Police officer, Eric Gelbman. Eric works at various places . One to check for disability fraud is Southeastern Military Academy, 638 SW Biltmore St. Port St. Lucie, Fl. 772 629 9104. He worked under his daughters name, Nicole Gelbman and used her Social Security Number to benefit himself.. The facility KNEW! All which can be documented. Both worked at the same facility. At the same time. I HAVE THE TAX RETURNS and OTHER DOCUMENTATION FOR PROOF. THEY ALSO WORKED AT CAMP VICTORY IN CENTRAL FLORIDA. They did the Air Show in Stuart, Florida for six years as a mock drill instructors. Bad back? This has been going on since 2008. ALSO, worked at flea markets, constructing booths. Taxpayers that’s where your money is going! To an ex-cop who brags how the City Of New York did him the biggest favor ever…to retire and work off the books. Also worked at a flea market as supervisor, where he constructed the tents. BAD BACK! Where does he go to work, but to a FLORIDA State run Facility, with his BACK INJURY. This is not the end of my debacle. When I informed his sons, how dire their father’s heart condition was, his SONS, OFFICERS OF THE LAW, collectively made reservations to come to Florida without notice.(P.S. no one gets to Florida between Christmas, Passover or New Year’s week without a reservation) This was a prearranged trip. I told them in November 2014 by telephone to Barry Gelbman just how ill their father was (November 2014) and requested that for the Holiday Season they visit because my husbands doctor told him to get his affairs in order. My husband knew what that meant. He had an undeniable IQ of 163…Hello Mensa! Check him out, amazing! He has been on borrowed time physically for twelve years, with a host of medical problems including diabetes, toe amputations, stents, heart attracts, mrsa, appendicitis, high blood pressure and skin disease. They(Bob’s sons) arrived at 6:30 am without notice December 29 2013. Pushed their way into the house. Entered our bedroom, proceeded to remove their father from his bed and take him to the patio. They did not allow him his medicine or water. THEY EVEN PICKED UP MY CELL PHONE AND HELD ON TO IT(NO OPPORTUNITY TO TAPE OR VIDEO, !They said they needed to talk “Now”. and removed him to the patio. They yelled and screamed for SIX HOURS. THEY TOLD HIM THEY WANTED THEIR “INHERITANCE NOW “. THEY WANTED TO TAKE MY HUSBAND TO THE BANK TO GIVE THEM THEIR INHERITANCE NOW ! ISN’T THAT AFTER YOU PASS! THIS WENT ON FOR SIX HOURS. I HAVE FIVE WHITENESS. HIS SONS BARRY AND ERIC DENIED MY HUSBAND WATER AND HIS MEDICATIONS. THANK GOD FOR THE PRESIDENT OF THE 1013 CLUB, (RETIRED POLICE OFFICERS PORT ST. LUCIE CHAPTER STOPPED BY) HE SAW IT ALL AND IS READY TO SPEAK UP. AFTER WHAT HE SAW AND HEARD HE HAD ERIC GELBMAN DIS- BANNED BY VOTE FROM THE LOCAL AND NATIONAL RETIRED POLICE OFFICERS CHAPTERS, FOR HIS DESPICABLE VERBAL AND EMOTIONAL HARASSMENT AND ABUSE ON A 78 YEAR OLD HELPLESS ELDER, WEIGHING ALL OF 120 POUNDS. THERE WAS ALSO AN INCIDENT REPORT MADE AGAINST HIS SONS. FT. PIERCE SHERIFF OFFICE, 4700 WEST MIDWAY ROAD, FT.[PIERCE, FL. REPORTED 1-1-14 CASE# 1400030. THIS IS AFTER THEY WANTED TEMPORARY GUARDIANSHIP. I HIRED AN ELDER CARE LAWYER TO PROTECT MY HUSBAND’S (ROBERT ALAN GELBMAN) RIGHTS. ALL CHARGES WERE DISMISSED WITH PREJUDICE, IN OUR FAVOR. HIS SONS WERE TOTALLY DISCREDITED BY THE COURT HERE IN FLORIDA. HOW CAN A DEPUTY INSPECTOR OF NEW YORK CITY , WITH A DOCTORATE DEGREE FROM MARIST COLLEGE IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION COMMIT SUCH AN ACT OF ELDER ABUSE AGAINST HIS OWN FATHER. ERIC THE SO CALLED DISABLED NYC POLICE OFFICER (SON) WAS JUST AS VILE AND SADISTIC. VERBAL ABUSE SO GRAPHIC(BARRY) WISHED HIM DEAD OVER AND OVER AT THE TOP OF HIS LUNGS WITH OTHER HORRIBLE EXPLETIVES! HE LATER WENT TO MY NEIGHBOR TO APOLOGIZE FOR SIX HOURS OF SCREAMING. SHE TOLD HIM SHE WAS GLAD HE CAME OVER, SO SHE COULD IDENTIFY HIM, IF SHE HAD TO. THESE SO CALLED PROTECTORS OF THE LAW OPENED MY EYES TO AN EVER GROWING PROBLEM. DEPUTY INSPECTOR BARRY GELBMAN(ACTIVE) AND BROTHER DISABLED P.O. OFFICER ERIC GELBMAN. SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS. AFTER THEIR VISIT LAST DECEMBER(2013) MY HUSBAND, ROBERT ALAN GELBMAN’S HEALTH STARTED TO DECLINE EVEN QUICKER THAN THE DOCTOR HAD ANTICIPATED. I AM SORRY TO SAY THAT MY HUSBAND PASSED AT THE TREASURE COAST HOSPICE HOUSE, FT. PIERCE FLORIDA, JUNE 22, 2014. I HOLD HIS SONS PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A CASE OF CONDUCT UNBECOMING A DEPUTY INSPECTOR OF NEW YORK CITY, AND HIS “DISABLED” POLICE OFFICER BROTHER. I WOULD LOVE TO TALK TO SOMEONE I CAN TRUST ABOUT THIS SITUATION. I FEAR FOR MYSELF IN THE FUTURE. STRANGE THINGS HAPPEN AROUND HERE FROM TIME TO TIME ,I.E., DEAD RABBITS ON DRIVEWAY AND OTHER CRITTERS. GARBAGE THROWN ON GRASS. I LIVE IN A REMOTE AREA.   Mrs Gelbman I am sorry to hear about what you are going through and what you and your late husband went through before his passing! These so-called law officers whether present or former are a disgrace to the uniform for which they represent. To Protect and To Serve! Who are they protecting and who are they serving? Certainly not their own parents. I can only hope that the local law enforcement is keeping close tabs on you considering the complaints you’ve mentioned. I know that months have gone by since you wrote and I can only pray that you are still in good health and doing ok. With much respect Robert A.

    Dear Robert A, sorry it has been so long. I have decided to persue this horrible situation. I have contacted the New York Post. E-mailed Jay Silverstein and Mr. Groen. They gave me a name of a new commission, that will deal with Police Abuse concerning Family members. I will do whatever it takes. No eldery person should be abused especially by their own sons who are New York Police. How shameful. The one thing I have in my corner is that President of the 1013 club, here in Port Saint Lucie, witnessed the mental and physical (no meds or water) abuse. He told me he would gladly testify. Eric Gelbman was also expelled by 1013 Clubs nationally. The vote to oust him was 100 percent. His Prividege to ring the Bell on 911 (area where we live has been rescinded, because of his conduct unbecoming a retired police officier. I will keep in touch. If you need me I am here. Thank You so much for your kindness, understanding, knowledge and your stance on this important down played subject that needs to be corrected. Glad you have returned. Rested I hope? I am still pursuring my stepsons. Depurty Inspector NYC, Barry Gelbman, Mounted Unit. Eric Gelbman, disabled, retired NYC, police Sargent and third son Andrew Gelbman of upstate N.Y, civilian. The retired New York City Police Sargent, who not only Witnessed the cruel incident, is the President of the 1013 Club, Retired NYC officers, here in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Eric Gelbman was a member but he was voted out unanimously and Nationally, because of his abuse of his father. Retired NYC Policer,President 1013Club Has agreed to tell What He observed that day. I have also be in contact with the journalists, who have taken up causes, such as this one. Mr. Weiss. Original writer of Barry Gelbman’s horse debacle. Mr. Silverstein, New York Post and Mr Goem. Seems there is now a commission within the Police Department about Elder Abuse perpurtrated by their own. Can they be trusted? 14 years ago on this day, June 10 2002 my best friend Susan Louise Burkhart Fyock was murdered by her cop “boyfriend” The coward shot her in her thigh while she was doing dishes after a long day at work… Her four year old son was standing no more than five feet away from her when this piece of SH*T shot her in her thigh, then to finish to finish her off, he took aim from across the room and shot her directly in her left temple… Her poor 4 year old son ran to her trying to wake her up. The coward then grabbed her pride and joy, jumped in the car and sped off w/ the boy beside him.
He received only 20-40 yrs in prison and was put in segregation so no1 would hurt him since he was a cop. Where was that kind of protection for Sue I ask !?!?
Its a shame that a cop can blame “the job” for his actions and get so little time. Here in Pennsylvania, if the tables were turned, Sue would have gotten life for killing him. And in Pa, life means life!! Why wasn’t he given life I ask u?? Its so unfair… I miss her so much and she’s missed so much in the 14 yrs she’s been gone.
I kno one day we will meet again but till then, rest easy my dear Susan… Keep the tanning bed warm for me 😉 u r always in my thoughts <3 today, tomorrow and always. Rest w/ god sweet baby girl. I will miss u forever <3

  Dear Shannon, I read your post. There are no words ! My prayers and heart felt sympathy, will be with you and your dear friend Susan. I completely understand your feelings. My husband s own sons abused him when he was ill and wanted to take him to bank. The wanted their inheritance, before he passed. That’IS NOT AN INHERTIANCE ! He was still alive. Please read my post. I am not giving up and will persue this POLICE ABUSE to anyone who will listen. I am 67 years old. I miss my husband everyday. Just like the YOU have been missing SUSAN for fourteen years. They caused my husbands early demise, he died of a broken heat. Could not believe his own Police Officer Sons abused him the way they did . He did not see that one coming. How do I keep my sanity? KNOW THAT AS LONG AS WE REMEMBER OUR LOVED ONES. THEY ARE NEVER REALLY GONE. Sounds cheesy maybe, but I am a Hospice 11th hour and dementia volunteer. I get loss. Your post was so heartfelt.
