In effect from 1885-1947, this legislated racism plunged Canada’s Chinese community into decades of debt and family separation. This documentary sheds light on a dark era that permanently shaped the identity of generations of Chinese in Canada. Karen ChoA fifth-generation Canadian from Montreal, Karen Cho has directed five short films. She graduated from Concordia University’s film production program where she received the Mel Hoppenheim Award.
